Once at our facility the victim will go through the intake process and sign all paperwork, They will be able to stay for 30 60 or 90 days depending on their particular situation and what the intake counselor advises as well as your case manager. Everyone will be drug tested upon arrival and have an exam by our physician's assistant and or license vocational nurse.
Everyone will be issued a necessities bag. They will also be assigned a combination locker to keep all valuables in. They will then be shown to a room which will be decided on according to the number of children they have. We have a variety of rooms to choose from.
While in the crisis part of the shelter the survivor will work on intensive therapy and recover from any physical trauma she may have experienced. If the "survivor" chooses to move on to the transitional housing program (Which is a program where you live on campus for up to 24 months), they must meet with a new case manager and program director where they will discuss short and long-term goals. To be eligible to be in the transitional housing program the survivor must either enroll in an educational class or work part-time or full-time.
Anyone in the transitional housing program will still be in counseling and attend therapy workshops and participate in other social activities. We will offer legal assistance as well for protective orders and such, or for anyone who needs assistance. We will also have daycare services available as well.
