Help Bring William Home — A Stroke Survivor in Need of Our Community
On March 24th, William Rachel, a 59-year-old husband and hardworking truck driver, suffered a devastating stroke while on the road in Las Vegas, Nevada. What began as a normal work trip quickly turned into a life-altering medical emergency requiring immediate surgery.
William is currently hospitalized, and while doctors were able to intervene, they were unable to remove all of the clot. He now faces a long and challenging road ahead, including extensive rehabilitation.
His wife, Cheryl Rachel, rushed to Las Vegas to be by his side. She is currently staying in a motel, navigating this crisis alone while trying to make critical decisions about her husband’s care and future.
William is the sole breadwinner for their household. With him unable to work, Cheryl is now facing overwhelming financial strain, including:
Medical expenses and hospital bills
Travel and temporary lodging costs
Upcoming rehabilitation expenses
Monthly living costs such as housing and utilities
To make matters even more difficult, William traveled with three companion dogs who are now in temporary shelter care while their future remains uncertain. Cheryl has also had to make arrangements for their dogs back home, adding even more emotional and financial stress.
🚑 The Immediate Need
William’s greatest need right now is to be transported safely back home to Burleson, Texas, where he can begin rehabilitation closer to his family and support system.
However, medical transport across state lines is extremely expensive, and this cost is not fully covered by insurance.
